Climate Change Implication on Palestine: A Case Study Jenin Governorate

Climate change negatively affects sustainable development in Palestine, especially Jenin Gover-norate, which is the food basket for Palestine. This study identified climate variables Governorate more than 100 years, temperatures and precipitation, derived from historical data to manifestations of its impact on water re-sources agricultural sector. The groundwater wells an un-derstatement. majority Jenin’s wells, number about 66 (including 22 agricul-tural wells), are located northeastern basin. By analyzing average annual total recharge this basin, it was evident that had decreased 151 million cubic meters/year 1976-1992 134 during 1993-2009. (about 11.3%). because general solid decrease rainfall area due effects change. recharge, coupled with increased pump-ing, has drained reservoir stock deteriorated quality. other source springs. 42 streams largely used small-scale household needs. research showed discharge springs increases 2014 2020 (average 0.48 MCM/yr.) compared period 2001 2011 MCM/yr.). years) increase amounts start relying them more, as governorate facing scarcity recently. In future, will considerably resources, altering surface underground supplies residential commercial purposes, irriga-tion, in-stream ecosystems, aquatic leisure.
